Vistas 2
The cards of Vistas 2 have more contrasting feelings than Vistas 1. Some of the locales have human presence that finds tranquility and solidarity with Nature.
Miles Away - Lagen Island, El Nido Resorts, The Philippines
The silhouette of a girl, calmly watches the sunset over hills on distant islands, while a female figure kayaks in the nearer lagoon Does she ‘have a dream’ that will row her beyond the uniquely-shaped Lagen Rock, over to unknown lands? The photograph was taken from a room in the El Nido Resorts, Palawan.
Ecstasy - Hummanaya Blow Hole, Dikwella, Sri Lanka
The sea leaps up to touch the sky, breaking through the earthly walls of a rocky cliff. The sky feels equally ecstatic to be part of this emancipatory moment and stamps its approval with a rainbow. The Hummanaya Blow Hole is the only blowhole in Sri Lanka and is supposed to be the second-largest internationally.
Eutierria - Lagen Island, El Nido Resorts, The Philippines
The mysticism of this image is accentuated by its caption, ‘Eutierria’ or being one with Nature. The sunset and its reflected orangish hue on the sea, the rock, the silhouette of a lady rowing a kayak – blend in to compose a meditative ode to Nature. The photograph was shot at the El Nido Resorts, Palawan.
Tempestuous - Pura Tanah Lot Temple, Bali
A dark solid rock-cut temple stands its ground against stormy skies of ‘blue and grey’ and a raging sea with white foam spray. Faithful pilgrims, in search of stability, queue up at the temple’s doors, despite the tempestuous atmosphere. Tanah Lot means ‘Land Sea’ and ‘Pura’ means temple in Balinese. It is an ancient temple in Bali. Legend says that poisonous snakes guard the base of the rocky island and fend off evil spirits.
